Uptown centers on Post Oak Boulevard, running north from Richmond Avenue past the Galleria and San Felipe toward Woodway and Memorial Park. The Galleria mall anchors the south end, with office towers, hotels and apartment communities spread along Post Oak, McCue Road, Sage Road and the streets between Westheimer and San Felipe. Uptown Park, a smaller shopping and dining center, sits at the north end near the West Loop.
Most residents drive, and it pays to learn which side streets avoid the busiest stretches of Westheimer and the West Loop at rush hour. METRO buses serve the district, including dedicated bus lanes along Post Oak Boulevard, and some buildings sit close to offices and shops. Weekend traffic around the Galleria can be heavy, especially during the holiday season, so plan big shopping trips for weekday evenings or mornings.
Supermarkets, pharmacies, dry cleaners and gyms are spread throughout Uptown, so most errands take only a short trip. For a change of scenery, Memorial Park offers running trails, cycling and a golf course just north-east of the district, and the restaurants of Highland Village and River Oaks District are a few minutes east along Westheimer.
We place guests in several Uptown and Galleria communities, including Galleria Parc, Caroline Post Oak and Broadstone Post Oak. For the full list, features and availability, visit our Galleria and Uptown furnished apartments page.
